Not when sold without therapeutic claims. Plain disposable briefs are consumer goods under the Australian Consumer Law. Medical-purpose, sterile or germ-killing claims can make a product a therapeutic good that needs ARTG inclusion through an Australian sponsor.

Q: Can we label the briefs sterile?

Keep claims true under the ACL

Flushable: do not use it for briefs or dry towels. The voluntary standard for wipes is AS/NZS 5328:2022, and the ACCC secured an A$700,000 penalty against Pental in 2018 over flushable claims.

Country of origin: state it truthfully (“Made in China”); a false origin claim breaches the ACL. Check whether your category needs a specific origin label with your customs broker.
