Choosing the right fiber blend for your converting line
Your target market’s plastic regulations, wet-strength needs and target landed cost determine whether you should run 100% cellulosic spunlace or a viscose/polyester blend.

Automated Pull-Out Face Towel Line (4 Units)
Plain vs pearl vs mesh spunlace rolls
Plain (smooth) weave: Flat, uniform surface on both sides. Preferred for lint-free nail and toner pads, sensitive-skin dry wipes, and lotion-impregnated sheets where minimum surface friction is required.
Pearl (embossed) weave: Raised 3D pearl domes formed by hydroentanglement on a structured drum. Increases bulk (caliper) and wiping grip; the most popular pattern for 60–80 gsm pull-out and roll face towels.
EF pattern: Fine textured micro-embossing that balances softness on one side with gentle exfoliation on the reverse.
Apertured mesh (10-mesh / 22-mesh): Open-hole structure that rinses clean easily and dries fast; widely used for kitchen/foodservice towels, beauty salon wipes and light medical/hygiene converter rolls.

Roll quality control for high-speed converting
Converting lines lose productivity when master or slit rolls have uneven tension, excessive splices, linting edges or basis-weight drift. Every roll shipment goes through five checks before loading:

Q2Can you supply 100% plastic-free spunlace rolls for UK and EU wet-wipe converters?+
Yes. Our 100% viscose and 100% cotton spunlace grades are made entirely of regenerated or natural cellulosic fibers without polyester, polypropylene or chemical binders, suitable for converters preparing for the UK plastic wet-wipe ban.
Q3What roll widths and core sizes can you slit?+
We slit to your exact machine width from mm up to mm on standard 76.2 mm (3-inch) paper cores, with outer roll diameters up to mm.
Q4Should I choose parallel-laid or cross-lapped spunlace for a folding machine?+
Parallel-laid spunlace has higher machine-direction (MD) strength and lower stretch, making it stable on high-speed interfolders and roll-towel rewinders. Cross-lapped spunlace gives more balanced strength in both directions (MD and CD) and is often chosen for heavy facial towels, bath towels and baby wipes.
Q5How do you prevent linting on 100% cotton and viscose rolls?+
Linting is controlled through fiber staple length selection, hydroentanglement water-jet pressure, and clean rotary slitting with vacuum dust removal. See our technical note on GSM and fabric structure.
